Bengali Typing Test
বাংলা টাইপিং টেস্ট
Check how fast you can type in Bengali. The test shows 200 common Bengali words, such as এবং, এই, যে and না, in random order. Type as many as you can in one minute and see your speed in words per minute (WPM), your accuracy and how many words you got right.
Bengali is the language of Bangladesh and of West Bengal in India, and one of the most spoken languages in the world. Typing it well means getting vowel signs (kar) and joined consonants (juktakkhor) right.
Typing Bengali on your keyboard
Popular Bengali layouts include Bijoy, which many typists in Bangladesh learned on, phonetic tools such as Avro that turn Roman letters into Bangla, and the standard InScript layout that comes with Windows.
On Windows 11, add Bengali under Settings → Time & language → Language & region, then switch between keyboards with Windows + Space.
Letters to watch
The test compares every character, so these often make a word wrong:
- Vowel signs are typed after the consonant, even when they are drawn before it: ক + ি gives কি.
- The hasanta (্) joins consonants into conjuncts, as in ন্ধ in সন্ধ্যা.
- চন্দ্রবিন্দু (ঁ) in words like চাঁদ and পাঁচ.
Tips to type Bengali faster
- Keep your eyes on the screen: the current word turns red as soon as you make a mistake.
- Accuracy first. Wrong words do not count towards your WPM.
- Practise for a few minutes every day. The 200 words in this test appear in almost every Bengali text.

Frequently asked questions
- Can I use Avro or Bijoy for this Bengali typing test?
- Yes. The test accepts any keyboard or input tool that types Unicode Bangla, including Avro phonetic, Bijoy (Unicode mode) and InScript.
- Why is my Bengali word marked wrong when it looks right?
- Two words can look alike but use different characters, for example a different vowel sign or a missing hasanta. The test compares every character, so check the signs and joins.
- How is typing speed (WPM) calculated?
- Every correctly typed word counts its characters plus the space after it. That number is divided by 5 (the length of an average word) and by the test time in minutes. Wrong words do not count towards your speed.
- What is accuracy?
- Accuracy is the share of all the keys you pressed that were correct. Typos you fixed with backspace still lower your accuracy, so it shows how cleanly you type.
