Filipino Typing Test
Pagsusulit sa bilis ng pag-type sa Filipino
Check how fast you can type in Filipino. The test shows 200 common Filipino words, such as ang, mga, ako and siya, in random order. Type as many as you can in one minute and see your speed in words per minute (WPM), your accuracy and how many words you got right.
Filipino, based on Tagalog, is the national language of the Philippines. It uses the Latin alphabet with almost no accents, so you can type it on any English keyboard.
Typing Filipino on your keyboard
Filipinos type on the standard US QWERTY keyboard, so there is nothing to install. The challenge is the many short, frequent words such as ang, ng, sa and mga, and the repeated syllables in words like kailangan.
Letters to watch
The test compares every character, so these often make a word wrong:
- ng and nang are different words.
- Hyphens in words like pag-ibig.
- Short words such as na, ang, sa and ay come up all the time.
Tips to type Filipino faster
- Keep your eyes on the screen: the current word turns red as soon as you make a mistake.
- Accuracy first. Wrong words do not count towards your WPM.
- Practise for a few minutes every day. The 200 words in this test appear in almost every Filipino text.

Frequently asked questions
- Do I need a special keyboard for Filipino?
- No. Filipino is typed on the normal US keyboard.
- Is this the same as Tagalog?
- Filipino is the standard form of Tagalog, so the everyday words are the same.
- How is typing speed (WPM) calculated?
- Every correctly typed word counts its characters plus the space after it. That number is divided by 5 (the length of an average word) and by the test time in minutes. Wrong words do not count towards your speed.
- What is accuracy?
- Accuracy is the share of all the keys you pressed that were correct. Typos you fixed with backspace still lower your accuracy, so it shows how cleanly you type.
