Swedish Typing Test
Skrivhastighetstest på svenska
Check how fast you can type in Swedish. The test shows 200 common Swedish words, such as och, att, det and som, in random order. Type as many as you can in one minute and see your speed in words per minute (WPM), your accuracy and how many words you got right.
Swedish is spoken in Sweden and Finland. Its three extra vowels, å, ä and ö, are among the most common letters in the language.
Typing Swedish on your keyboard
Sweden uses the Swedish keyboard, the same as the Finnish one, with å next to P and ö and ä next to L.
On Windows 11, add Swedish under Settings → Time & language → Language & region, then switch between keyboards with Windows + Space.
Letters to watch
The test compares every character, so these often make a word wrong:
- å, ä and ö are different letters: år, är and öga.
- Words that look alike: för and far, gå and ge.
- Compound words written as one, such as idag and imorgon.
Tips to type Swedish faster
- Keep your eyes on the screen: the current word turns red as soon as you make a mistake.
- Accuracy first. Wrong words do not count towards your WPM.
- Practise for a few minutes every day. The 200 words in this test appear in almost every Swedish text.

Frequently asked questions
- Is idag written as one word?
- Yes, both idag and i dag are correct Swedish, and this test uses the one-word form.
- Can I use a Norwegian or Danish keyboard?
- Those layouts have æ and ø instead of ä and ö. Use the Swedish layout.
- How is typing speed (WPM) calculated?
- Every correctly typed word counts its characters plus the space after it. That number is divided by 5 (the length of an average word) and by the test time in minutes. Wrong words do not count towards your speed.
- What is accuracy?
- Accuracy is the share of all the keys you pressed that were correct. Typos you fixed with backspace still lower your accuracy, so it shows how cleanly you type.
