Thai Typing Test
ทดสอบความเร็วในการพิมพ์ภาษาไทย
Check how fast you can type in Thai. The test shows 200 common Thai words, such as ที่, และ, ใน and ของ, in random order. Type as many as you can in one minute and see your speed in words per minute (WPM), your accuracy and how many words you got right.
Thai is written without spaces between words, but the test separates the words so you can press space after each one. Vowels can sit before, above, below or after a consonant, and tone marks sit on top.
Typing Thai on your keyboard
The standard Thai layout is Kedmanee, which comes with every operating system. Many Thai letters are typed with Shift. An alternative layout, Pattachote, is designed for speed but is rarely used.
On Windows 11, add Thai under Settings → Time & language → Language & region, then switch between keyboards with Windows + Space.
Letters to watch
The test compares every character, so these often make a word wrong:
- Type the consonant first, then the vowel above or below it, then the tone mark: น + ้ + ำ gives น้ำ.
- Vowels written before the consonant, such as เ and แ, are typed first: เ + ป + ็ + น gives เป็น.
- Letters that look alike, such as ถ and ภ, or ด and ต.
Tips to type Thai faster
- Keep your eyes on the screen: the current word turns red as soon as you make a mistake.
- Accuracy first. Wrong words do not count towards your WPM.
- Practise for a few minutes every day. The 200 words in this test appear in almost every Thai text.

Frequently asked questions
- Why are there spaces between Thai words?
- Normal Thai text has no spaces between words. The test adds them so it can check each word and you can move on with the space bar.
- Which Thai keyboard should I use?
- Kedmanee, the standard Thai layout, is used by almost everyone and works best.
- How is typing speed (WPM) calculated?
- Every correctly typed word counts its characters plus the space after it. That number is divided by 5 (the length of an average word) and by the test time in minutes. Wrong words do not count towards your speed.
- What is accuracy?
- Accuracy is the share of all the keys you pressed that were correct. Typos you fixed with backspace still lower your accuracy, so it shows how cleanly you type.
