Lithuanian Typing Test
Spausdinimo greičio testas lietuvių kalba
Check how fast you can type in Lithuanian. The test shows 200 common Lithuanian words, such as kad, bet, tai and yra, in random order. Type as many as you can in one minute and see your speed in words per minute (WPM), your accuracy and how many words you got right.
Lithuanian is one of the oldest living Indo-European languages and keeps many ancient word forms. It adds nine letters with diacritics to the Latin alphabet.
Typing Lithuanian on your keyboard
On the standard Lithuanian keyboard the number row types ą, č, ę, ė, į, š, ų, ū and ž, so numbers are typed with the number pad or a modifier. The rest of the layout is QWERTY.
On Windows 11, add Lithuanian under Settings → Time & language → Language & region, then switch between keyboards with Windows + Space.
Letters to watch
The test compares every character, so these often make a word wrong:
- ė and e, as in mergaitė and vakaras.
- Nasal vowels ą, ę, į and ų, as in į and jūsų.
- š, ž and č, as in šiandien and žmogus.
Tips to type Lithuanian faster
- Keep your eyes on the screen: the current word turns red as soon as you make a mistake.
- Accuracy first. Wrong words do not count towards your WPM.
- Practise for a few minutes every day. The 200 words in this test appear in almost every Lithuanian text.

Frequently asked questions
- Where are numbers on a Lithuanian keyboard?
- The number row types Lithuanian letters, so use the number pad or the layout's modifier key for digits.
- Does the test need all the diacritics?
- Yes. A word without them is counted as wrong.
- How is typing speed (WPM) calculated?
- Every correctly typed word counts its characters plus the space after it. That number is divided by 5 (the length of an average word) and by the test time in minutes. Wrong words do not count towards your speed.
- What is accuracy?
- Accuracy is the share of all the keys you pressed that were correct. Typos you fixed with backspace still lower your accuracy, so it shows how cleanly you type.
