Slovak Typing Test
Test rýchlosti písania v slovenčine
Check how fast you can type in Slovak. The test shows 200 common Slovak words, such as ako, ale, som and sme, in random order. Type as many as you can in one minute and see your speed in words per minute (WPM), your accuracy and how many words you got right.
Slovak is close to Czech but has its own letters, such as ä, ľ, ĺ, ŕ and ô. The softening mark (mäkčeň) and the length mark (dĺžeň) appear in many common words.
Typing Slovak on your keyboard
The Slovak keyboard is QWERTZ. Like the Czech layout, its number row types accented letters such as ľ, š, č, ť, ž, ý, á, í and é, so digits are typed with Shift or the number pad.
On Windows 11, add Slovak under Settings → Time & language → Language & region, then switch between keyboards with Windows + Space.
Letters to watch
The test compares every character, so these often make a word wrong:
- ľ and l, as in ľudia and veľa.
- ä and ô, as in päť and stôl.
- Length marks are part of the word: dobrý, krásny and áno.
Tips to type Slovak faster
- Keep your eyes on the screen: the current word turns red as soon as you make a mistake.
- Accuracy first. Wrong words do not count towards your WPM.
- Practise for a few minutes every day. The 200 words in this test appear in almost every Slovak text.

Frequently asked questions
- Can I use a Czech keyboard for Slovak?
- It is missing ľ, ĺ, ŕ, ä and ô in easy places, so the Slovak layout is better.
- Does the test need diacritics?
- Yes. A word without its accents is counted as wrong.
- How is typing speed (WPM) calculated?
- Every correctly typed word counts its characters plus the space after it. That number is divided by 5 (the length of an average word) and by the test time in minutes. Wrong words do not count towards your speed.
- What is accuracy?
- Accuracy is the share of all the keys you pressed that were correct. Typos you fixed with backspace still lower your accuracy, so it shows how cleanly you type.
