Persian Typing Test
آزمون سرعت تایپ فارسی
Check how fast you can type in Persian. The test shows 200 common Persian words, such as در, به, از and که, in random order. Type as many as you can in one minute and see your speed in words per minute (WPM), your accuracy and how many words you got right.
Persian (Farsi) is spoken in Iran, Afghanistan (as Dari) and Tajikistan. It is written right to left in an Arabic-based alphabet with four extra letters: پ، چ، ژ and گ.
Typing Persian on your keyboard
The standard Persian keyboard (ISIRI 9147) and the older Windows Persian layout both type Persian letters, including the Persian forms of ی and ک. Phone keyboards such as Gboard offer Persian too.
On Windows 11, add Persian under Settings → Time & language → Language & region, then switch between keyboards with Windows + Space.
Letters to watch
The test compares every character, so these often make a word wrong:
- Persian ی and ک, not the Arabic ي and ك, which an Arabic keyboard types.
- پ، چ، ژ and گ, as in پدر، چشم and گرم.
- آ (alef with madda), as in آب and آسمان.
Tips to type Persian faster
- Keep your eyes on the screen: the current word turns red as soon as you make a mistake.
- Accuracy first. Wrong words do not count towards your WPM.
- Practise for a few minutes every day. The 200 words in this test appear in almost every Persian text.

Frequently asked questions
- Can I use an Arabic keyboard for Persian?
- No. An Arabic keyboard types different characters for ی and ک and has no پ، چ، ژ or گ. Use a Persian layout.
- Are words with a half-space (نیمفاصله) included?
- No. The test leaves out words that need a zero-width non-joiner, so you only type letters and spaces.
- How is typing speed (WPM) calculated?
- Every correctly typed word counts its characters plus the space after it. That number is divided by 5 (the length of an average word) and by the test time in minutes. Wrong words do not count towards your speed.
- What is accuracy?
- Accuracy is the share of all the keys you pressed that were correct. Typos you fixed with backspace still lower your accuracy, so it shows how cleanly you type.
