Slovenian Typing Test
Test hitrosti tipkanja v slovenščini
Check how fast you can type in Slovenian. The test shows 200 common Slovenian words, such as kot, ali, tudi and jaz, in random order. Type as many as you can in one minute and see your speed in words per minute (WPM), your accuracy and how many words you got right.
Slovenian is spoken by about two million people in Slovenia. Its alphabet adds only three letters to the basic Latin ones: č, š and ž, which makes it one of the easier Slavic languages to type.
Typing Slovenian on your keyboard
The Slovenian keyboard is QWERTZ, the same as the Croatian one, with č, š and ž to the right of the letters.
On Windows 11, add Slovenian under Settings → Time & language → Language & region, then switch between keyboards with Windows + Space.
Letters to watch
The test compares every character, so these often make a word wrong:
- č, š and ž, as in človek, šola and že.
- Words that differ only by a háček: vas (village) and vaš (your).
- QWERTZ: z and y are swapped compared with English.
Tips to type Slovenian faster
- Keep your eyes on the screen: the current word turns red as soon as you make a mistake.
- Accuracy first. Wrong words do not count towards your WPM.
- Practise for a few minutes every day. The 200 words in this test appear in almost every Slovenian text.

Frequently asked questions
- Can I use a Croatian keyboard for Slovenian?
- Yes. The layouts are the same, and Slovenian needs only č, š and ž.
- Why does my Y type Z?
- Slovenian keyboards are QWERTZ, so Y and Z swap places compared with English.
- How is typing speed (WPM) calculated?
- Every correctly typed word counts its characters plus the space after it. That number is divided by 5 (the length of an average word) and by the test time in minutes. Wrong words do not count towards your speed.
- What is accuracy?
- Accuracy is the share of all the keys you pressed that were correct. Typos you fixed with backspace still lower your accuracy, so it shows how cleanly you type.
