Croatian Typing Test
Test brzine tipkanja na hrvatskom
Check how fast you can type in Croatian. The test shows 200 common Croatian words, such as što, kao, ali and ili, in random order. Type as many as you can in one minute and see your speed in words per minute (WPM), your accuracy and how many words you got right.
Croatian is written in the Latin alphabet with five extra letters: č, ć, đ, š and ž. Getting them right is what makes Croatian typing harder than it looks.
Typing Croatian on your keyboard
The Croatian keyboard is a QWERTZ layout: Z and Y are swapped compared with English, and the extra letters sit on the keys to the right of P and L.
On Windows 11, add Croatian under Settings → Time & language → Language & region, then switch between keyboards with Windows + Space.
Letters to watch
The test compares every character, so these often make a word wrong:
- č and ć are different letters, as in čovjek and kuća.
- đ is one letter, not dj.
- Words without their diacritics are counted as wrong: zivot instead of život.
Tips to type Croatian faster
- Keep your eyes on the screen: the current word turns red as soon as you make a mistake.
- Accuracy first. Wrong words do not count towards your WPM.
- Practise for a few minutes every day. The 200 words in this test appear in almost every Croatian text.

Frequently asked questions
- Why does my Y type Z?
- The Croatian layout is QWERTZ, so Z and Y swap places compared with an English keyboard. That is normal on a Croatian keyboard.
- Can I use a Serbian or Bosnian Latin keyboard?
- Yes. The Latin layouts for Croatian, Serbian and Bosnian put č, ć, đ, š and ž in the same places.
- How is typing speed (WPM) calculated?
- Every correctly typed word counts its characters plus the space after it. That number is divided by 5 (the length of an average word) and by the test time in minutes. Wrong words do not count towards your speed.
- What is accuracy?
- Accuracy is the share of all the keys you pressed that were correct. Typos you fixed with backspace still lower your accuracy, so it shows how cleanly you type.
