Georgian Typing Test
ბეჭდვის სიჩქარის ტესტი ქართულად
Check how fast you can type in Georgian. The test shows 200 common Georgian words, such as და, არის, რომ and ეს, in random order. Type as many as you can in one minute and see your speed in words per minute (WPM), your accuracy and how many words you got right.
Georgian has its own alphabet, Mkhedruli, with 33 letters and no capital letters. Each letter stands for one sound, so words are typed exactly as they are spoken.
Typing Georgian on your keyboard
Most Georgians use the Georgian QWERTY layout, which puts each letter on the Latin key with a similar sound. Letters without a Latin match, such as ღ, ჭ and ჟ, are typed with Shift. Windows also includes an ergonomic Georgian layout.
On Windows 11, add Georgian under Settings → Time & language → Language & region, then switch between keyboards with Windows + Space.
Letters to watch
The test compares every character, so these often make a word wrong:
- Letters that are typed with Shift on the QWERTY layout, such as ჭ in ჭამა and ღ in ღამე.
- Similar-looking letters such as ბ and ზ, or პ and ჰ.
- Long words made of many consonants, such as მასწავლებელი.
Tips to type Georgian faster
- Keep your eyes on the screen: the current word turns red as soon as you make a mistake.
- Accuracy first. Wrong words do not count towards your WPM.
- Practise for a few minutes every day. The 200 words in this test appear in almost every Georgian text.

Frequently asked questions
- Does Georgian have capital letters?
- No. Georgian is written in one case, so you never need Shift for capitals, only for some letters on the QWERTY layout.
- Which Georgian layout should I use?
- The QWERTY (phonetic) layout is the most common and easiest to learn if you know the English keyboard.
- How is typing speed (WPM) calculated?
- Every correctly typed word counts its characters plus the space after it. That number is divided by 5 (the length of an average word) and by the test time in minutes. Wrong words do not count towards your speed.
- What is accuracy?
- Accuracy is the share of all the keys you pressed that were correct. Typos you fixed with backspace still lower your accuracy, so it shows how cleanly you type.
